There was only the great primordial void known as <strong>Ginnungagap<\/strong> (the magical abyss).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>On one side lay, <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/huellasdelpasado.eu\/en\/niflheim-mundo-de-hielo-y-niebla\/\">Niflheim<\/a><\/strong> (home of mist), a realm of fog, ice, darkness, and death. There flowed a primordial spring called, <strong>Hvergelmir<\/strong> (the roaring cauldron), from which sprang twelve frozen rivers known as the <strong>\u00c9lliv\u00e1gar<\/strong> (ice waves).At the opposite end of the abyss stood <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/huellasdelpasado.eu\/en\/muspelheim-mitologia-nordica\/\">Muspelheim<\/a><\/strong> (home of fire), a blazing realm ruled by the fire giant <strong>Surtr (the Black)<\/strong>, who wielded a flaming sword.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>There, in the heart of nothingness, the heat of Muspelheim met the ice of Niflheim in the center of Ginnungagap, and from this collision the first form of life emerged: <strong>Ymir:<\/strong> the Screamer), the primordial being, a hermaphroditic giant. While Ymir slept, new giants were born from his sweat: the <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/huellasdelpasado.eu\/en\/jotunheim-mitologia-nordica\/\">j\u00f6tnar<\/a><\/strong> (giants of chaos).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>At the same time, from the melting ice was born <strong>Au\u00f4humla<\/strong> (rich milk), the cosmic cow, a primeval creature that fed on salty frost blocks. From her udders flowed four rivers of milk that nourished Ymir.\nAs Au\u00f0humla licked the salty ice from the stones, she gradually revealed the shape of a man: <strong>B\u00fari<\/strong>, the first god.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>B\u00fari fathered <strong>Borr<\/strong>, who united with the giantess <strong>Bestla<\/strong> (tree bark), daughter of the giant <strong>B\u00f6lthorn<\/strong> (evil thorn). From this union was born the first divine trinity: <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/huellasdelpasado.eu\/en\/?p=1535\">Odin<\/a>, Vili y V\u00e9<\/strong>, who represented spirit and will, intelligence, and sacred power respectively. From these three brothers would arise the lineage of the <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/huellasdelpasado.eu\/en\/asgard-el-reino-de-los-aesir\/\">Aesir<\/a><\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">The Origin of the Universe: The Creation of the World<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Odin, the eldest, stood out for his wisdom, piercing gaze, and insatiable hunger for knowledge.\nIt was then that the three brothers made a decision that would forever change the course of the cosmos: they slew the giant Ymir. His blood flowed so abundantly that it drowned most of the primordial giants, except for <strong>Bergelmir<\/strong>, who escaped with his wife. From them descended the j\u00f6tnar known today.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>From Ymir\u2019s body, the gods shaped the world:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>His flesh became the earth,<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>His blood became seas, rivers, and lakes,<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>bones formed the mountains,<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>His teeth became stones,<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>His hair turned into trees and forests,<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>His skull became the vaulted sky. The world was formed, and Odin became the ruler of order born from chaos. From this foundational act, he was known as <strong>Allf\u00f6\u00f0r, the All-Father.<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">S\u00f3l and M\u00e1ni: The Living Celestial Bodies<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The gods took the two children of a man named <strong>Mundilfari<\/strong> (he who moves with time): a beautiful daughter named <strong>S\u00f3l<\/strong> (Sun) and a son named <strong>M\u00e1ni<\/strong> (Moon), and placed them in the sky.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>S\u00f3l was set to guide the solar chariot, drawn by two horses: <strong>\u00c1rvakr<\/strong> (Early Riser) and <strong>Alsvi\u00f0r<\/strong> (Very Swift). To protect them from the burning heat of the sun, the gods placed cooling bellows beneath their shoulders.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>M\u00e1ni, in turn, guides the moon and cares for two children, <strong>Hj\u00faki and Bil<\/strong>, whom he took with him from Earth.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Both chariots are eternally pursued by wild wolves: <strong>Sk\u00f6ll<\/strong> , who chases S\u00f3l, and <strong>Hati<\/strong> , who hunts M\u00e1ni. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>When the wolves finally catch their prey, Ragnar\u00f6k will begin\u2014the end of the world. <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/huellasdelpasado.eu\/en\/ragnarok-mitologia-nordica\/\">Ragnar\u00f6k<\/a><\/strong>, the end of the world.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">The First Humans<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>As they walked along the shore, Odin, Vili, and V\u00e9 found two tree trunks: one of ash and the other of elm or vine.
