As would happen with other peoples in the <a href=\"https:\/\/huellasdelpasado.eu\/en\/invasiones-miticas-de-irlanda\/\">mythical invasions<\/a>, the journey took place by sea, a constant element in Irish legends.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">According to the tradition recorded in the <em>Lebor Gab\u00e1la \u00c9renn<\/em>, Parthol\u00f3n began his voyage to Ireland from <strong>Sicily<\/strong>, although some medieval versions place the origin of his lineage\u2014or part of his journey\u2014in other regions of the Mediterranean, such as Greece.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">With his arrival, a new chapter in the legendary history of Ireland began.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">The Arrival of Parthol\u00f3n<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Inber Sc\u00e9ne<\/strong> is traditionally regarded as the place where Parthol\u00f3n and his people first landed in Ireland.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The traditions portray Parthol\u00f3n as a leader capable of organizing and transforming the land. His people are credited with numerous innovations. Parthol\u00f3n discovered the betrayal, but the episode did not end in a duel, a battle, or an execution.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The tale appears in the <em>Lebor Gab\u00e1la \u00c9renn<\/em> , and tradition interprets it as a mythical explanation for the origin of male jealousy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">The First Great Conflict: The Battle of Mag Itha<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Parthol\u00f3n's stay in Ireland was not without danger. Depending on the source, they appear as giants, supernatural beings, or forces associated with chaos, storms, and the wildest aspects of nature.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">According to the medieval traditions, the Fomorians were led by <strong>Cichol Gricenchos<\/strong>, considered in some versions to be one of their earliest great chiefs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The sources describe him as a warrior or giant. Some traditions even attribute to him only one hand and one foot.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The conflict between the two peoples culminated in the Battle of <strong>Mag Itha<\/strong>, regarded as one of the first great conflicts of mythical Ireland. Tradition states that thousands died within a very short period.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The stories tell that the last survivors gathered to bury the dead before they too succumbed to the epidemic.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">According to tradition, only <strong>Tu\u00e1n Mac Cairill<\/strong> survived the plague, beginning an extraordinary cycle of transformations that would make him the witness to the later invasions of Ireland.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">According to the <em>Lebor Gab\u00e1la \u00c9renn<\/em>, the epidemic wiped out almost the entire population within the course of a single week.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">The End of a People<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">With the disappearance of Parthol\u00f3n and his descendants, Ireland became uninhabited once again.
