For some chosen souls, it is only the beginning of a different existence. That place has a name: <strong>Valhalla.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">It is not a paradise of rest nor a realm of peace. Valhalla is a warrior hall, a sacred barracks, and a place of preparation for the final destiny of the gods: <a href=\"https:\/\/huellasdelpasado.eu\/en\/ragnarok-mitologia-nordica\/\">Ragnar\u00f6k<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Not all of the dead arrive here. Only those whose lives were marked by battle and honor.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">What Is Valhalla<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Valhalla (<em>Valh\u00f6ll<\/em>, \u201cHall of the Slain\u201d) is the great hall of <a href=\"https:\/\/huellasdelpasado.eu\/en\/odin-dios-nordico-asgard\/\">Odin<\/a> Odin located in Gla\u00f0sheimr, within <a href=\"https:\/\/huellasdelpasado.eu\/en\/asgard-el-reino-de-los-aesir\/\">Asgard<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">It belongs to the Allfather, Odin, and serves several purposes:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>refuge for warriors who died in battle<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>eternal training ground<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>place of ritual feasts<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>prelude to Ragnar\u00f6k<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">It is not a moral reward. At night they gather in the great hall for the feast, where they:&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>eat the flesh of the magical boar <strong>S\u00e6hr\u00edmnir<\/strong>, which is reborn each day<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>drink endless mead<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>celebrate eternal neither punishment nor reward. It is <strong>preparation.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Odin in Valhalla<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Odin presides over the hall, accompanied by:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>his ravens<strong> <\/strong>Huginn (Thought) and Muninn (Memory)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>his wolves Geri and Freki<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Curiously, Odin does not partake in the feast like the other warriors. It only gathers strength to face it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">A Hall Without Promises<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Valhalla represents:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>warrior glory<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>acceptance of fate<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>preparation for the inevitable<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>the idea that even the gods need armies<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Valhalla does not promise salvation.
