festival in which women\u2014especially including enslaved women\u2014took part in rituals performed beneath a wild fig tree.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">It reflects a more archaic and origins.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">They were associated with refuge, danger, and a connection to nature, preserving a deeply archaic character.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Neptunalia (July 23)<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Dedicated to Neptune, god of water, at one of the hottest points of the summer.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Romans built temporary shaded structures and celebrated outdoors, seeking protection from the heat and ensuring access to water.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Furrinalia (July 25)<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A festival in honor of Furrina, an ancient deity associated with springs and underground waters.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">By the classical period, her cult was already obscure, making it a remnant of older traditions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Urban Life and Entertainment<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Despite the heat, Rome did not stop.
